Your adventure begins in Zurich, taking you through iconic passes like the Grimsel, Furka, St. Gotthard, and Nufenen Pass as you make your way to the picturesque canton of Valais. Wake up to the majestic sight of the Matterhorn, one of the world’s most iconic peaks. The journey continues past Italy’s stunning Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como before heading to Switzerland’s St. Moritz and on to the Stelvio Pass, the highest point of the trip at 9,045 feet (2758 meters). Descending into Italy, you’ll ride along the Austria-Italy border toward Bolzano. For our all-inclusive trips, we base the standard price on the most expensive motorcycle in our selection. This gives you the flexibility to choose the motorcycle that best suits your preferences.
If you opt for a less expensive motorcycle or decide to use your own, the corresponding amount for that motorcycle (including fuel) will be deducted from the total trip price.

If you choose to ride your own bike, fuel will not be included.

Rules and Tips

  • Age Requirements:
    Motorbike riders must be at least 25 years old. Duo passengers must be at least 18 years old.
  • License Requirements:
    A valid driver’s or rider’s license is mandatory for all riders throughout the entire trip. Duo passengers are exempt from this requirement.
  • Riding Experience:
    These motorbike trips are not suitable for beginners. The routes involve challenging roads, varying surface quality, long daily distances, extended riding hours, and potentially hazardous local driving habits. Please check the Level of Difficulty for details.
  • Alcohol Use:
    Riders are responsible for their own alcohol consumption. Be aware that local regulations regarding alcohol may vary. As a rule of thumb, it is best to enjoy a drink only at the end of the day. Misuse of alcohol will result in intervention and may lead to termination of your trip.
  • Medication:
    If you use medication, please bring a doctor’s or pharmacist’s list.
    Important: Are you allowed to drive while using this medication?
  • Gear and Weather:
    Prepare for varying weather conditions depending on the time of year and destination. In Scotland and the Alps, weather can be unpredictable—even though we are called Blue Sky Bike Rides. Packing a rain suit and extra gloves is highly recommended.
  • Requests:
    If you have any specific wishes during your trip, please do not hesitate to ask. We will do our best to make this journey truly yours.
  • Tour Guide Functions:
    • The tour guide may ride at the front or back of the group, based on the group’s needs.
    • In Scotland, the tour guide will lead for at least the first day if no one in the group has prior experience riding on the left side of the road.
    • The guide also acts as a first aid responder and technical assistant, with remote technical backup available if needed.
    • The guide’s level of involvement with the group can be tailored to your preference. Keep in mind, they are also responsible for managing all local payments.

Motorcycle experience requirements vary between 5,000 and 20,000 miles, depending on the complexity of the route, ensuring options for riders of different skill levels.

The entire route consists of well-maintained tarmac roads, mostly straightforward with some gentle curves, making it manageable for riders. At least 5,000 miles of motorcycle riding experience is recommended

Most of the route follows high-quality tarmac roads with some sections featuring more pronounced curves. Riders should have a minimum of 7,500 miles of motorcycle experience.

This route includes a significant number of tight curves and occasional stretches of narrow tarmac roads. A minimum of 10,000 miles of motorcycle riding experience is advised.

The route is predominantly made up of challenging, narrow, and highly curvy roads, often reducing to single lanes. At least 15,000 miles of motorcycle riding experience is required.

The entire route is extremely demanding, featuring constant tight curves, very narrow sections, and parts that run along single-lane roads. Riders should have at least 20,000 miles of motorcycle experience.

This journey prioritizes sightseeing, with daily opportunities to discover cultural landmarks and natural beauty. Multiple stops are planned each day, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the region’s highlights at a leisurely pace. Scenic viewpoints and notable attractions are featured throughout the route.

During the route, there are a few opportunities for sightseeing, allowing participants to take in the surroundings at a relaxed pace.

Sightseeing is incorporated into the schedule on most days, offering a chance to explore notable spots during the journey.

More stops per day, ensuring participants can enjoy cultural or scenic highlights regularly.

Average Driving Time per Day

While some participants prefer to cover as many miles as possible, others opt to arrive early at the hotel to enjoy its amenities before dinner. The indicated driving times include breaks and photo stops but exclude lunch, which typically lasts about an hour between noon and 2 PM. Riding days generally begin around 9 AM, with occasional earlier starts when necessary.
